Context and memory

What Arc remembers, where it is stored and how you control it.

The current conversation

Arc saves messages and execution observations in your account. A bounded selection of goals, arguments, results and connection IDs is passed to the next model decision. Discovery results may be reused briefly; an App action still checks its current account permissions. Very long histories are shortened, so cite an exact file, issue or goal when a detail matters.

Useful information across chats

Tell Arc to remember a preference or project fact, or add it in Settings → Memory. Arc stores short personal notes and bounded recent-work summaries in its own encrypted store, rather than relying on a model provider’s consumer chat memory. Relevant notes are retrieved for a request. Live device status comes from the device registry; a remembered computer name is not proof that it is online or authorized.

Inspect, edit and delete

Use Memory settings to inspect saved notes, edit personal facts, remove entries or disable memory. Do not store passwords or API keys in memories. Memory and chat history have separate controls; deleting a note does not delete an App provider’s source data. Only the relevant request context is sent to the selected model API, subject to that provider’s processing terms.
